Electrical installation for Trafalgar farm

Objectives:

Trafalgar Farm in Lincolnshire was a newly built agricultural site comprising six poultry houses. The objective was to carry out a complete electrical installation for all sheds, ensuring the farm had a reliable and efficient power system to support its operations. This included fully testing and commissioning all equipment before handing over the project to the farm manager, guaranteeing compliance with safety standards and operational readiness.

The Challenges:

One of the major challenges faced during the project was coordinating with the local electricity supply authority to secure a new power connection for the site. This process involved significant waiting time, which could have delayed the farm’s operational schedule. To overcome this, the team implemented a temporary solution by installing two generators—one to act as the primary power source and another as a backup system. This ensured that the farm could begin operations without interruption while awaiting the grid connection.

The Process:

The project began with detailed planning and design to meet the specific requirements of the poultry houses. The team executed a full electrical installation across all six sheds, including wiring, lighting, and integration of essential equipment. Rigorous testing and commissioning were carried out to confirm that every component met safety and performance standards. During the waiting period for the grid supply, the generators were installed and configured to provide seamless power, with contingency measures in place to switch between the main and backup units as needed.
