Control panel installation for grain drying
How we delivered reliable power and remote operation.
Objectives:
The project involved building two control panels to operate large fans used for drying grain. Store 1 required a 45 kW twin inverter panel, while Store 2 needed a single 37 kW inverter panel integrated with an app-based control system for remote operation
The Challenges:
The site had no mains electricity, meaning the entire system had to run off-grid using generators, solar panels, and battery storage. This presented a significant challenge in ensuring reliable power supply and seamless operation of the fans.
The Process:
To overcome the lack of mains power, the team designed a solution that incorporated a small PLC control unit. This ensured that the generator would start before the fans were activated, preventing power interruptions and safeguarding the system. The control panels were built to specification, with one featuring twin inverters and the other configured for app-based control, providing flexibility and ease of use.
The Outcome:
The system was successfully commissioned and operates efficiently off-grid. The PLC control unit guarantees that the generator starts before the fans are called into action, ensuring smooth and reliable drying operations. The app-based control system adds convenience, allowing operators to manage the fans remotely.
